Early in the morning today, Coach S-11 of the Tamil Nadu Express caught fire near Nellore and 32 people are reportedly killed and over 25 others injured in fire. The fire has now been doused and the coach has been detached from the rest of the train. This was the only coach affected.
The rescue teams are having a tough time identifying and removing bodies. People in lower berths were apparently able to escape but a number of those in the middle and upper berths perished in the fire. The number of dead and injured are likely to go higher. The coach had 72 passaegners and was full.
The injured have been moved to hospitals in Nellore and Railway teams are trying to identify the victims and the injured and covey the information to their families.
