A Transco Vigilance report on the power crisis in AP has revealed some extremely interesting details on Power theft and collusion in supply of electricity. The report has exposed how big businesses run by politicians benefit from preferential treatment even with regard to powe cuts.
Industries and companies run by some MPs and MLAs have had the privilige of uninterrupted power supply over the last year. In Kurnool district, an MP and a Minister have been major beneficiaries and are named as examples in the report.
Not just this, officials at electricity distribution companies have colluded with some Industrialists to ensure they get power even during the scheduled cut hours and this has led to more severe power shortage in villages. Villages have been suffering for such severe shortage that even irrigation has become a major challenge.
The report identifies the entire electricity distribution machinery as highly corrupt and that the inefficiency is now leading to some villages being totally in the dark with incessant power cuts.
