After Sakshi TV and YSRCP created much ruckus over CBI Joint Director Lakshmi Narayana allegedly selectively talking to certain media outlets, a petition was filed in the High Court of Andhra Pradesh asking for action to be taken against the JD for these “leaks”. Bhushan Bhavanam, a lawyer from Guntur, filed a Public Interest petition against the JD saying the court should examine his call list and take action against him.

However the Court found absolutely no public interest in his petition and even opined that the entire petition was politically motivated. Calling it a “sponsered” petition, a bench comprising of Justice Ghosh and Justice Ali not only struck down the petition but also imposed a fine on the petitioner of Rs 2 lakhs. After the lawyer asked for some lenience in the penalty amount the court reduced this to Rs 25,000.

Former MLA Adusumilli Jaiprakash who impleaded himself into the petition last week claiming there was no public interest involved in the petition expressed happiness at the judgement.
