Ram Jethmalani’s eloquent and angry defence of Jagan Mohan Reddy’s wealth generating schemes and his claim that Jagan was being “harassed” by the ruling Congress party did not move the High Court. The Court today rejected the bail plea and agreed with the CBI counsel’s argument that there was the danger of influencing witnesses if Jagan was granted bail. Earlier, the CBI counsel argued that Jagan’s disproportionate assets case involved financial irregularities that amounted to a total of Rs 43,000 crores.
