The bail petition of Y.S.Jaganmohan Reddy, who has been arrested in the disproportionate assets case is adjourned to the 28th of September. The Supreme Court bench which has sought some time to study the affidavit filed by the CBI, has said that arguments from both the sides shall be heard on the 28th of September.
Yesterday, the government appointed a new lawyer to argue on behalf of the CBI in the Jagan’s case. Senior counsel Ashok Bhan and additional solicitor-general Harin Raval who were working on the case right from the beginning were replaced by ASG Mohan Jain. This sudden move came as a shocker to the CBI officials who objected the change, but could not resist the high-level pressures. Though the government claims this to be a routine practise as Mr.Raval who is also dealing several other cases for the CBI and was unable to withstand work pressure, the opposition slammed the move of the government. The primary opposition TDP also questioned the governments need to change the lawyer just a day before the hearing and said that the congress party is trying its level best to help Jagan escape.
