Loksatta Convernor and Kukatpalli MLA Jayaprakash Narayana yesterday critcised Vijayawada MP Lagadapati Rajagopal’s statement that if Telangana was granted, there would be no safety for people from the Seemandhra regions living in Hyderabad. Making a speech on the issue of emotional politics as opposed to reasoned and thought through political participation, he cited Lagadapati’s statement as an example for fear-mongering. At the same time, JP also did not have kind words about the Telangana movement saying repeated statements that people of Telangana had been looted by people of Seemandhra only helped create anger and resentment in people.

Star director SS Rajamouli, who has been active in the Surajyam movement also joined conversation supporting Press Council Chairman Justice Markandaya Katju’s statement that 90% people in India were foolish and voting based on communal and caste issues. He also mentioned the recent ruckus in Tollywood with groups representing caste and region obstructing films. He said his participation in the Surajyam movement was out of respect for Jayaprakash Naryana and his ideals.
