Whether it was TDP’s recently released list of land scams in the state or the by-elections tomorrow, the Congress government has finally found the courage to act on Brother Anil’s massive Bayyaram lease. The Government today announced the lease was now cancelled.
The Government had earlier reserved 56,690 hectares of land for APMDC in Bayyaram, Garla and Nelakondapally mandals in Khammam district. The land was to be used for exclusive exploration covering survey and investigation of mineral bearing areas for Brother Anil’s Rakshana Steels.
The land is estimated to have reserves of 13 lakh crore tonnes of iron ore deposits.
Brother Anil is the son-in-law of YS Rajasekhar Reddy and is married to Sharmila who has emerged as the face of YSR Congress Party after Jagan’s arrest. There are also allegations on Brother Anil that he uses his evangelic activities to turn people towards supporting the YSR family.
When the lease was first granted to Brother Anil’s company, there was a huge political outcry with the opposition TDP demanding cancellation of the mining lease on the ground that this was a blatant act of favoritism by YSR.
Rakshana Steels, at the time of the grant, was also found to be a very small company based out of an apartment in Hyderabad clearly proving on what considerations the lease was originally granted.
