The Supreme Court today sanctioned a CBI probe against former Karnataka Chief Minister Yeddyurappa in relation to corruption allegations in handing out mining contracts. In March this year, the Central Empowered Committee, appointed by the Supreme Court to probe illegal mining submitted a report after studying the mining leases granted and mining activity carried out in Karnataka. The Committee recommended the probe against Yeddyurappa.

With this new development, Yeddyurappa’s chances of reclaiming the Chief Minister’s post have taken a major hit.
