Is the Congress High Command moving towards a decision on the the Telangana issue? Are we finally going to see a crucial announcement on the issue n September?

All signs seem to indicate Yes. In a decision that could have serious repercussions on the state politics, the Congress high command is said to be readying a game plan to solve the issue of Telangana as well as bring about a change in the current leadership in the state. It is believed both these issues will be held together in a single package.

A Gorkhaland style autonomous council is said to be on the cards for Telangana. However this will not be the final solution to the Telangana issue. Congress is likely to declare that is in support of eventual statehood for Telangana if the people are still unhappy after the council functions for sometime.

A leader from the Telangana region might also be made the Chief Minister replacing Kiran Kumar Reddy. The High Command is said to be extremely unhappy with the current Chief Minister’s style of functioning. A two member search committee is also said to have been constituted by Sonia Gandhi to identify a strong leader who can improve the Congress Party’s prospects in AP. On Firday, Vayalar Ravi met with Ahmed Patil and a senior leader of the Congress said the outcome of the meeting was that the Congress Party’s resolve to solve the Telangana issue once and for all was further strengthened.
